Date: 12 October 2024
Location: Imperial College London, Exhibition Rd, South Kensington, London SW7 2AZ, UK

Event description:

We are pleased to announce an inaugural PRASSA UK national conference, marking our first national in-person event specifically designed for medical students with a keen interest in plastic surgery. This distinguished event provides a unique platform to learn from esteemed experts in the field, participate in hands-on workshops, and engage with peers and professionals who share your passion.

The conference will be held on Saturday, 12th October, commencing with registration at 8:30 AM. The event will open with an introduction by PRASSA’s President, Sydney, and Events Lead, Andrei, setting the tone for a day of informative presentations and discussions. The first session, led by Mr Mark Henley, will provide a comprehensive overview of careers in plastic surgery, offering valuable insights into this specialised field. Mr Ryan Kerstein will then lead a session on innovations in plastic surgery, highlighting the latest advancements and future directions in the field

A short break will precede a session by Lt Col Graham Lawton, who will discuss military trauma and share his extensive expertise and experiences. Following this, Miss Georgina Williams will present on facial aesthetics, providing an in-depth exploration of this area.

Midday refreshments will be accompanied by poster displays, offering attendees the opportunity to engage with current research and projects. The afternoon will feature talks from Ms Katerina Kyprianou on PLASTA and Mr Naveen Cavale on BFIRST, followed by a closing address from Sydney and Andrei. A lunch break will provide further opportunities for networking and viewing poster presentations.

The latter part of the day will be dedicated to interactive workshops, beginning with sessions on pig belly suturing and tendon repair, designed to develop practical skills in a hands-on environment. After a short refreshment break, participants will continue with workshops on chicken thigh microsurgery, led by UKLoupes, and VR/AR applications in surgery, conducted by VRiMS. The conference will conclude with a final thank you and a group photo session.

We look forward to welcoming you to this prestigious event, which promises to be a valuable opportunity for professional growth and development in the field of plastic surgery.
